Prebuffering pause stutter with XVMC in MythTV

I just upgraded my MythTV box from 0.18 .1 to 0.20-svn. I is running on a Via Mini-ITX ME6000 board, which means that it is neccessary to use XVMC to get decent playback.
At first the playback was very poor. It used to run very nicely, so this was very disappointing.
Eventually I stumbled on this thread on the MythTV mailing list, which gave me the solution.
After setting the UseChromaKeyOSD=1 in the settings table in the MySQL database - I now have much better playback.
It actually took me quite a while to figure this out, even though it is described on the MythTV XVMC wiki page. And the reason is that on this page, it is not described as a solution to get rid of the prebuffering, but as a means to get colour OSD instead of the gray one which normally is the indication that you have XVMC enabled.

  1. For your information then I can tell you that this is the third hit in google when searching for ‘me6000 prebuffering’! Which is nice since you just saved my day (and made the the upcomming night free for other purposes than rebuilding random stuff at large).
    Lovely unstuttering playback :-)
    Cheers
